The First Generation Summit showed me that many students around the United States understand the need for a support system dedicated to first generation students. I specially enjoyed when Executive Board members from multiple first generation clubs came together to discuss how to keep improving. We realized that we should partner and create connections in order to increase awareness.
During our meeting we talked about the different events we have had over the past two semesters. It was important for all of us to see which events worked best in different campuses in order to improve our clubs. I gained really valuable knowledge of the different activities we could implement here at Rutgers - Camden in order to increase our popularity and reach more students.
More importantly, I created many good connections of people who's main goal is to recognize and resolve the needs of undergraduate first generation students as well as other students on their campuses. I hope to keep these connections to continue sharing future ideas in order to keep improving and helping others.
