FOUR RUTGERS CAMDEN STUDENTS REPRESENT THE UNIVERSITY AT GREAT MINDS IN STEM

From Left to right: Alex Peña, Moises Figueroa Ramirez, Liz Ramos, and James Ramos,

In October of the year 2015 four students from Rutgers University - Camden attended the 27th Annual HENAAC Conference in Pasadena, California presented by Great Minds in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, (STEM). In the picture above from left to right Alexa Pena and Moises Figueroa Ramirez (Rutgers Future Scholars Alumni) along side with Liz & James Ramos (Rutgers Trio students). They where along side thousands from top executives and innovative professionals, to the brightest STEM students from across the nation. There they attended seminars and networked with STEM workforce professionals and college students.

These Rutgers students engaged in a series of workshops, networking events, and as first-time attendees they participated in the very intense and competitive College Bowl. Alexa Pena (class of 2019) was awarded a $200 scholarship from Chevron as her team took 3rd place in the College Bowl.

The Rutgers University students were able to connect with distinguished representatives from the likes of Lockheed Martin, NASA, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman just to name a few companies.

This experience came to fruition thanks to Ana Rodriguez, Developmental Specialist of TRiO SSS. She found the opportunity and encouraged Liz Ramos (one of her TRiO students) to attend.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS: Dr. Nyeema Watson (Assistant Chancellor of Civic Engagement) Dr. Santiago (Founder, Leap Academy), Kriste Lindenmeyer (Dean of FASC), and Daniel Shain (Biology Department Chair)
